MYHockey Releases Ontario 97 AA Rankings

MYHockey has been working a dedicated individual in Ontario in order to release the 2007-08 Ontario Atom (97) AA rankings. MYHockey has never regularly included games against Ontario AA/A level teams and has never ranked these teams in such a fashion. The release of these rankings highlights the abililty to rank a subset of teams in a standalone fashion on MYHockey.

In the past, MYHockey has tried to include Ontario AA/A teams, but numerous problems have always spoiled these attempts. While certainly not perfect, the current rankings definitely address an interest from north of the border. The current system does not allow for USA Tier II teams to play these Ontario AA/A teams. The teams are in two completely different parts of the system and no overlap is possible. MYHockey acknowledges that this will continue to frustrate a set of viewers who travel across the border playing Tier II hockey, still, this is a step in the right direction.

The trial is currently active with the 97 birth year. A dedicated individual requested that we give Ontario AA/A another try. MYHockey created the facilities for this person to enter all the scores and create a mini-MYHockey system for the Ontario 97 AA teams. Additional birth years could be added, but only if committed individuals step forward to make these sites a reality.

There are still a couple sub-optimal features. Currently, there are no drop-down menus that allow the user to navigate back to the rest of the rankings. Users will have to use the back button or click on a navigation button on the left side for the page to return back to the main part of MYHockey. Ontario 97 AA is split into 9 different divisions that can be viewed in a standalone fashion like other divisions within MYHockey, however, these divisions must be selected while browsing the rankings off the main site today and the links to these divisions can be found at the bottom of the "League/Divisions" drop-down box. Again, this may be a little confusing. MYHockey will work to improve these issues in the coming months.

The release of the Ontario 97 AA teams marks the first release of a standalone division managed by a single individual. Additional standalone divisions can easily be created and managed by others. Examples include pre-season seeding rounds of a league, a Quebec league, Maritime or Western Provinces league, European leagues and/or High School Hockey leagues. If interested, please contact MYHockey for details.
